… Says ‘No Collusion Will Save Osun Governor From Defeat in 2026’
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired fresh shots at Governor Ademola Adeleke over reports that he is seeking the support of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership, led by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, to contest the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement signed by the state APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the party accused Adeleke of “begging and fraternizing” with Aregbesola despite previously disparaging the former governor in public. The party described Adeleke’s move as a “display of desperation and lack of honour” and warned that no political collusion could save him from defeat in 2026.
The APC recalled that in July 2025, Adeleke had labelled Aregbesola a “pension eater” and accused him of leaving Osun State in debt, with unfinished projects and delayed salaries. “It is surprising that Adeleke now turns to Aregbesola as his political saviour after publicly insulting him,” the statement said.
Highlighting Adeleke’s track record, the APC alleged that his administration has failed to deliver on promises of job creation, affordable education, and improved living standards. The party pointed to steep tuition hikes at UNILESA, UNIOSUN, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, the dismissal of 1,500 teachers, and unfulfilled recruitment promises for over 32,000 applicants.
The statement also accused Adeleke of betraying political allies, including Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello and other prominent figures, warning that such actions undermine public confidence.
“The people of Osun should reject Adeleke at the poll for betraying their mandate,” the APC said. It urged voters to see the alleged alliance with Aregbesola as a threat to the state’s future and a sign of reckless political ambition.
The APC concluded by reminding the electorate that Adeleke had previously urged Osun people to punish Aregbesola and the ADC for past mismanagement, and now expects them to overlook his past criticisms in a bid to cling to power.
